Background

Every couple of years I have to dip into “Planned Parenthood” and get an STD Test.

It is sublime seeing teenage girls at Planned Parenthood trying to see if it is time to grow up quick.

 

Planned Parenthood

This year I called Planned Parenthood.

Because of my work schedule, weekends are better.

I set up an appointment for a weekend after the one upcoming.

The next day, I called and canceled.

Having to wait till next weekend meant me not using my time wisely.

 

Family

I called my Takayo D up.

I said “D, where ya all go for STD tests these days“.

He replied just go pick up a Kit at CVS.

In-Store

Went to a local store and picked up a test kit.

Often they are locked in a cabinet.

Please pull someone aside and have them unlock the cabinet and hand a kit to you.

 

Take Test

Thankfully, the test I opted for is not a needle test.

It is a so-called piss test.

 

Wait

I think you need to have held your bathroom break for an hour before discharging and collecting.

 

 

Collect Test

Initial Collection

A container is provided for you to collect your test.

You can collect your test in the provided container.

Or in another container of your choice.

 

Syringe Collection

The vendor provides a syringe for the secondary collection.

There is existing liquid in the syringe.

Please make sure to keep the existing liquid in the syringe.

The vendor also provides an extractor to extract your liquid from the bigger container into the syringe

Please gather your liquid safely and gently into the syringe

This needs to be done very slowly.

The reason is that you need so little.

There is a lowest and highest mark on the syringe.

Your extract needs to fit between the markers.

 

Package Test

Please place the syringe into the provided envelope.

Seal up the envelope.

Please place your name and test date on the sealed envelope.

Look for a nearby postal box and drop off our sealed-up envelope.

 

 

Online Registration

When opportune register online.

The package will contain registration information.

Please be sure to keep your registration credentials.

That is your username and password.

 

Test Results Available

Once your test results are available, you will receive an email notification.

 

Review Test Results

Please return to your medical test portal, and enter your sign-in credentials.

In your privacy, please review your results.

If there are areas that you need further guidance on, please review with family and partners.
