Body of Christ:- Functional Role – Evangelist

Background

Will like to look at the body of Christ in terms of the functional roles that exist within it.

In this particular post, we will start with the role of an evangelist.

 

Outline

Our framework will be Apostle Paul’s list in Ephesians 4:11.

Here is Apostle Paul’s list:-

      • So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

An evangelist is tasked with preaching the good news from place to place.

He has to cover a lot of grounds and as such he does not stay in one place for more than a few days at a time.

Types

  1. Itinerant preacher
    • Christian evangelist who preaches the basic Christian redemption message while traveling around to different groups of people within a relatively short period of time
