Cup of Cold Water

Background

I tuned in to a pastor the other day.

He tried to explain his position through scripture.

Cup of Cold Water

And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
( Matthew 10:42 )

Indeed, if anyone gives you even a cup of water because you bear the name of Christ, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.
( Mark 9:41 )

Kindness to the poor is a loan to the LORD, and He will repay the lender.
( Proverbs 19:17 )

Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.
( Ecclesiastes 11:1 )

For God is not unjust. He will not forget your work and the love you have shown for His name as you have ministered to the saints and continue to do so.
( Hebrews 6:10 )

It is a Shame

It is a shame that we start off with a position and look for scripture to back it up.

Thanks Goodness

Thanks goodness, Jesus never started with a position and defended it through scripture legalism.

Personal To me

May be it is just me.

But, there are some positions that are not worth looking for scripture to defend.

Many have been led astray in that endeavor.

I will leave it as that.

Gospel

It seems pleasant that the inspired word should have the last breath :-

Galatians 2:6-10

Link

6 But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man’s person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:

7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;

8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles)

9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

10 Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

APOSTOLIC AUTHORITY AND POWER

  1. Scripture
    • Mark 16:17-18
      • KJV [ Link ]
        17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
    • Luke 9:2
      • KJV [ Link ]
And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
    • Romans 15:18-19
      • KJV [ Link ]
18 I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done— 19 by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ.
  2. Died for our Salvation & Sickness
  3. Miracles
    • Miracles have not ceased
    • God authority has not ceased
    • Demonstrate God’s authority
      • We still need God’s authority to be demonstrated
  4. We gonna talk about, we are going to teach about, and God we want your demonstration to be here tonight
  5. There are 3 levels of Apostolic Authority we see in the New Testament
    • Waiting
      • People who have yet to receive
        • Acts 1:4-5
          • Acts 1:4-5 King James Version (KJV) [ Link ]
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
        • Acts 8:15-16
          • 15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
    • Laying on of Hands
      • Acts 8:14-16
        • 14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money 19 and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”20 Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God.22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.24 Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said may happen to me.25 After they had further proclaimed the word of the Lord and testified about Jesus, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages.
    • Preached Word
      • Romans 10:17
        • 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
      • Acts 10:44-46
        • KJV ( Link )
          • 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.
      • Matthew 8:7-10
        • KJV ( Link )
          • 7 Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”
8 The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

  9. Success in Ministry
    • Success in ministry comes when we are so perfectly in tune with what God is doing in the Spirit world

    • We have to be willing to pray for people, when God his ready to perform for People

        • But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said, “Why do you harbor evil in your hearts?
          • Their sins are forgiven you
  12. Offices
    • 1 Corinthians 12:28 King James Version (KJV)
      • 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

  • 2 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him [ Parousia ],
  • 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
  • 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
  • 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
  • 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
  • 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
  • 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
  • 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
  • 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
  • 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
  • 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
  • 13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

Jesus – “Consider carefully how you listen”

Background

The Jesus we meet in the bible is a man who admonishes us to listen carefully.

Listen Carefully

  1. The Lesson of the Lamp
…For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing concealed that will not be known and illuminated.  Pay attention, therefore, to how you listen. Whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.” ( Luke 8:17-18 )
  2. The Lesson of the Lamp
…He went on to say, “Pay attention to what you hear. With the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and even more will be added to you. For whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.” Jesus also said, “The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed on the ground.… ( Mark 4:24-26 )
  3. The Purpose of Jesus’ Parables
…He replied, “The knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. This is why I speak to them in parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.’…
    ( Matthew 13:11-13 )
  4. John  12
    • Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.  ( John 12:35 )
    • While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.  ( John 12:36 )
    • That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?  ( John 12:38 )
    • Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,  ( John 12:39 )
    • He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.  ( John 12:40 )
  5. “‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
be ever seeing, but never perceiving’.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
    hear with their ears,
    understand with their hearts,
    and turn and be healed.”
    ( Isaiah 6:9-10 )

Guilt in God’s eyes

  1. The Murmuring of Miriam and Aaron
    • Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman);( Numbers 12:1 )
    • He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, shall make Myself known to him in a vision. I shall speak with him in a dream.
      Numbers 12:6 )
    • I speak with him face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you unafraid to speak against My servant Moses?
      Numbers 12:8 )
  2. Job’s Final Appeal
…If I have rejoiced at my enemy’s ruin, or exulted when evil befell him— I have not allowed my mouth to sin by asking for his life with a curse— if the men of my house have not said, ‘Who is there who has not had his fill?’—…
    Job 31:29-31 )
  3. Abraham, Sarah, and Abimelech
    • But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife. ( Gen. 20:3)
    • But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? ( Gen. 20:4 )
    • Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. ( Gen. 20:5 )
    • And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. ( Gen. 20:6 )
    • And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.  ( Gen. 20:11 )
    • And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.  ( Gen. 20:13 )
    • And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes ( Gen. 20:16 )

Spiritual Covering

Senses

There are quite a few senses involved in Spiritual covering.

Inclusive are seeing with our eyes, hearing with our ears, understanding with our hearts,  and turning; in essence repenting.

And, God ultimately stepping in to heal us.

      • If no separation
        • The Devil will laugh
      • He did not know that the Lord had left me
        • She made him sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his hair. Then she began to afflict him, and his strength left him. ( Judges 16:19 )
        • She said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as at other times and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the LORD had departed from him. ( Judges 16:20 )

      • The part of your life that Satan does not have  is stronger than the one he occupies
      • 1000 daemons
        • The part left:
          • Running
          • Giving himself to Jesus
          • When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him.
He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!”
For Jesus had said to him, “Come out
of this man, you impure spirit!”

  6. You are not a pig, and so do not live in the mud
    • Addiction
      • Extreme guilt and condemnation
      • The act itself
        • Affair
        • Smoking
        • Gambling
      • Mud
        • Pig loves the mud, sheep is ashamed
        • Through sin, we slip and we fall
    • Satan’s goal
      • Sin is not the goal
      • Separation is the goal
      • We sin for 15 minutes
      • But, we are in condemnation for life
      • I am hoping that the longer I condemn myself, God will be more forgiving for me
    • Private Life
      • When my car is dirty, I do not avoid potholes
    • Forgiveness
      • Not only ask for forgiveness
      • But, accept forgiveness
  7. Jesus
    • Adultery
      • Only I can condemn you, and I choose not to exercise that right

Damon Thompson- Faith for a Kairos moment

  1. Go to the Book of Mark Chapter 10
    • Mark – Chapter 10 – Verse 46 thru 52
      Link

      • And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
      • And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
      • And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
      • And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
      • And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
      • And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
      • And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
  2. There are two types of time
    • Chronos and Kairos
      • Chronos
        • Chronos (/ˈkroʊnɒs/; Greek: Χρόνος, “time”, pronounced [kʰrónos], also transliterated as Khronos or Latinised as Chronus) is the personification of Time in pre-Socratic philosophy and later literature. Chronos governed linear, chronological time
          Link
      • Kairos
        • The other Greek word for time is kairos, meaning the indeterminate moment that is right for something to occur.
          Link
  1. Chronos
    • We get the word chronology
  2.  Kairos
    • Glory of God come into a moment
    • Man’s time get so consumed with what God wants to do in the moment
  3. God’s time
    • Jesus made himself manifest in the world when the fullness of time has come ( Galatians 4:4 )
    • However a Kairos time coming upon the earth does not mean everybody gets the benefit of it
    • To benefit from it
      • Discernment
      • And, faith
  4. How can I release faith in a Kairos Moment
  5. Anytime I am looking at the prophetic I look at it from three different dimensions [ Segment :- 5th t0 7th minute ]
    • What is it
    • What can stop it
    • And, how I do get to it
  6. Frustration
    • Some of the most frustrated people in the world are people who were giving prophetic opportunities, but they did not know how to seize
    • They did not how to yield
    • Not seeing prophetic manifestation
  7. Jesus Introduction
    • Synoptic Gospel
    • In the beginning was the Word
  8. Pedigree without vision can cost you purpose
  9. God’s plan has always been his presence [ Segment 30 minutes ]
  10. Jericho
    • Joshua 6:26
      • Then Joshua made them take an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed before the LORD is the man who rises up and builds this city Jericho; with the loss of his firstborn he shall lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he shall set up its gates.”
    • Ahab ( 1st Kings 16:34 )
      • Ahab Reigns in Israel, Marries Jezebel ( Link )
…Ahab also made the Asherah. Thus Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
      • In his days Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho; he laid its foundations with the loss of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which He spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.
  11. Best Instruction you ever had, all the questions are Yes
  12. Persistency in Love
    • Without faith, it is impossible to please God  ( Hebrew 11:5-6  [ Link ])
      • By faith Enoch was taken up so that he did not see death. He could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
  13. Closing
    • Garments of praise
    • Peace for despair
    • I got to know God in the land of the living
    • I got to know God in a living land
