     • Three people were shot in southeast Baltimore, one of them is a 14-year-old boy according to Baltimore Police Department. Police say around 7:15 p.m., Southeast District patrol officers responded to the 400 block of North Montford Avenue to investigate a shot spotter alert. READ MORE – https://foxbaltimore.com/news/local/3… On the heels of a review showing a decrease in shootings and homicides in the 10 Safe Streets catchment zones, Baltimore City leaders announced an additional $5 million will go toward the gun violence prevention program. The money will come from the city’s $641 million federal American Rescue Plan allocation, according to Shantay Jackson, director of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement. Jackson said the funding will be on top of the budget already allocated for the Safe Streets locations.

2. 12 people shot in 12 hours, 1 dead – Baltimore police struggle to keep up

     • A shooting spree in Baltimore city with 12 people shot, one dead, all within 12 hours. It was a bleak period Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. with shootings reported across the city in the east, west, north and south. The police department seemingly struggled to keep up stretching an already short staff. Dispatchers were heard over the scanners, one of them saying: “Shift units? Still holding 7 calls with 3 priority ones…I have no one available at this time.” Critical words, but emblematic of the department’s uniform patrol unit that’s nearly 500 officers down.
