Background
My adopted sister, D, texted me this morning.
Her text read “come get me“.
I am like “Bro, I am out for a long walk, Can’t do it.”
Two hours later, she was back at it.
Bride
I texted my Bride and said please call D and see what she needs.
We had a three way call and D wouldn’t say anything.
D texted me later to say I am her brother.
My bride is not her brother.
Walk
I got D.
I explained to D, it is not you D.
It is me.
Only long walks where I get to walk for hours and talk to self gets me out of my bad.
That is all that helps with my bad attitude.
After Care for my episodes.
Check On Me
Ate Words
At the dollar store, she ate her words.
Asked what she said.
She said “Check on me” has been making the rounds on social media.
Ate Years
As we left the store, she said the security man that I was so busy talking to looks like he just came back home from time away.
I said Yes.
Those are my kinds of people.
Those missing years you can see.
Those with years they can’t share.
Relatable.
Those who actually have nerves to squash.

Lyrics
Libianca – People (Check On Me)
Mmm, mmm
From Bamenda, it’s Libianca
Oh-wa (a-yo, Mage, do yo’ thang)
I’ve been drinking more alcohol for the past five days
Did you check on me?
Now, did you look for me?
I walked in the room, eyes are red and I don’t smoke banga
Did you check on me? (Did you check on me?)
Now, did you notice me?
Nobody wey know di paranoia, oh
‘Cause I put a smile on my face
A facade you can never face (hoo)
And if you don’t know me well, well, oh
You won’t see how buried I am inside my grave
Inside my grave
‘Cause you see people, people, people, people
Who don’t really know you
They don’t really know you
‘Cause you see people, people, people
They don’t really know you
They don’t really know
I’ve been drinking more alcohol for the past five days
Did you check on me?
Now, did you look for me?
I walked in the room, eyes are red and and I don’t smoke banga
Did you check on me? (Did you check on me?)
Now, did you notice me?
Oh, Holy Father
Oh, Holy Father, I di try fo hold my head
I say make you no leave me diko
Oh, Holy Father, yeah-yeah
Oh, make you try fo understand
Yahoo girl, no dey for here (oh, yeah)
‘Cause you see people, people, people, people
Who don’t really know you (they don’t really know you)
They don’t really know you (know-oh)
‘Cause you see people, people, people
They don’t really know you (mhm)
They don’t really know-
I’ve been drinking more alcohol for the past five days (yeah, yeah)
Did you check on me?
Now, did you look for me?
I walked in the room, eyes are red, and I don’t smoke banga
Did you check on me? (Did you check on me?)
Now, did you notice me?
I’ve been drinking more alcohol for the past five days (mm-hmm)
Did you check on me?
Now, did you look for me? (Oh)
I walked in the room, eyes are red (and I don’t) and I don’t smoke banga
(And I don’t) did you check on me? (Did you check on me?)
Now, did you notice me?
I’ve been drinking more alcohol for the past five days
Did you check on me?

What they may be dealing with internally could be much more than meets the eye.
Your sense of kindness can break the wall of isolation and the feeling that no one cares.
