1. Theological Test
   • Question
     • What does he/she say about Jesus regarding His nature and incarnation?
   • Scripture
     • 1st John 4:1 – Testing the Spirits ( Link )
       • ¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.
         ² By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
         ³ and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world at this time.…
2. Gospel Test
   • Question
     • What does he say about the Gospel?
   • Scripture
     • Galatians 1:6 – No Other Gospel ( Link )
       • ⁶ I am amazed how quickly you are deserting the One who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—
         ⁷ which is not even a gospel. Evidently some people are troubling you and trying to distort the gospel of Christ.
         ⁸ But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse!
3. Test of Fruits

     • What kind of spiritual fruit is being produced in this person and those who follow him/her?
   • Scripture
     • Matthew 7:17 – A Tree and its Fruit ( Link )
       • ¹⁷ Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
         ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
         ¹⁹ Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
4. Test of Wisdom

     • What is the origin of his/her wisdom?
   • Scripture
     • James 3:13 – The Wisdom from Above ( Link )
       • ¹³  Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good conduct, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
         ¹⁴  But if you harbor bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast in it or deny the truth.
         ¹⁵  Such wisdom does not come from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.
         ¹⁶  For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every evil practice.
         ¹⁷  But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peace-loving, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere.
         ¹⁸ Peacemakers who sow in peace reap the fruit of righteousness.
5. Bible Test

7. Neo-Gnostic Test ( Special knowledge )

     • Am I being fleeced by someone claiming “special knowledge”?
   • Scripture
     • Colossians 2:8 – Alive in Christ ( Link )
       • See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces a of this world rather than on Christ.

       • ¹⁷  These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
         ¹⁸  Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind.
         ¹⁹ They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
