Christianity:- Who We Are – Day 06 ( James 4:4 – Friendship with the world )

In the last couple of weeks, I have watched a couple of YouTube videos that speaks to who we are as a body in Christ.

  1. Christianity:- Who We Are

Old Testament

  1. Numbers
    • Numbers 12:1 – The Murmuring of Miriam and Aaron ( Link )
      • 1 Then Miriam and Aaron criticized Moses because of the Cushite woman he had married, for he had taken a Cushite wife.
2Does the LORD speak only through Moses?” they said. “Does He not also speak through us?And the LORD heard this.…
3 Now Moses was a very humble man, more so than any man on the face of the earth

New Testament

  1. James
    • James 4:4 – Warning Against Pride ( Link )
      • 4 Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?
  2. Matthew
    • Matthew 18:15 – A Brother who Sins ( Link )
      • Douay-Rheims Bible
        • But if thy brother shall offend against thee, go, and rebuke him between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou shalt gain thy brother.
    • Matthew 18:16 – A Brother who Sins ( Link )
      • Douay-Rheims Bible
        • And if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more: that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand.

Online Provocateur

There are various ministries in Christianity.

Online ministries have exploded in the last silver ( 25 ) or so years.

There are various types of online ministries.

The one we will cover in this post is the online provocateur.

There are “Christian” ministries that are fully dedicated to examining other ministries for falsehood.

There are issues with being a Christian ministry that is chiefly dedicated towards targeting others for examination.

  1. Pharisaic Spirit

Pharisaic Spirit

The pharisean spirit is an archetype mentioned throughout the bible.

Scriptural Basis

Scriptural Basis – Old Testament ( OT )
  1. Genesis
    • Satan
      • Satan masquerading as a snake approaches Eve and accuses our heavenly of not being good
    • Moses
      • Marrying a Cushite
Scriptural Basis – New Testament ( NT )
  1. Gospel
    • Jesus

Here are signs that you are dealing with a “Pharisean Spirit“.

6 signs you might be a Pharisee:

  1. Pharisees spend more time focusing on what they hate than what they love.
    • Because of this spirit, Christians have been made known for what they are against rather than for what they are for.
    • It’s because of them that “evangelical” has come to mean fanatical bigots who have perfected “culture war” tactics.
  2. Pharisees zoom in on other’s sin but act as if their own doesn’t exist.
    • Jesus said that the Pharisees were “white-washed tombs”: beautiful on the outside but dead on the inside.
    • Jesus also said to beware of the yeast (substance) of the Pharisees: hypocrisy.
    • A.W. Tozer put it this way, “A Pharisee is hard on others and easy on himself, but a spiritual man is easy on others and hard on himself.”
  3. Pharisees spread accusations against others without ever going to them directly.
    • The Bible is clear about going to your neighbor and confronting them personally if they have done something wrong. ( Matthew 18:15 )
    • Regrettably, “Christian” Pharisees spread poison into the people around them.
    • The tongue is full of deadly poison, and the Pharisee spirit seizes every opportunity to destroy others with their slander.
    • Pharisees are skilled at making villains out of others and claiming that “God is on their side.”
    • Honestly, most Pharisees use the word “God” to bring about destruction and to justify their selfish actions.
  4. Pharisees are quick to pass judgment.
    • Pharisees actively seek out people to destroy.
    • They search for faults and weaknesses in others and feed on them.
    • Pharisees shoot first and ask questions later.
    • This is the exact opposite of what Jesus told us to do. ( Matthew 7:1-4 )
    • As E. Stanley Jones rightly pointed out, “The measure of my spirit of criticism is the measure of my distance from Christ.”
  5. Pharisees rarely ever admit that they are wrong, and they cannot take correction.
    • Pharisees are the kind of people who will always have an excuse ready and a blame to pass.
    • They have no self-awareness.
    • When you live this way, you start to distance yourself from reality.
    • They love to turn the spotlight on others and never let the light in on themselves.
  6. Pharisees stay in their flock.
    • Birds of a feather stick together, and there’s no way you’ll find a Pharisee around anyone but another Pharisee.
    • But this makes sense since everyone else is “unrighteous and despicable.”
    • As much as they try to disguise themselves with a bright and shiny exterior, Pharisees are not happy people.

Dedicating this post to Lecrae.

Let me keep this __ legal.

I don’t want to speak to the stage name.

It is orderly to speak to the man created in God’s image.

The child of God, Lecrae Devaughn Moore.

Family:-Take your time.

Take your space.

You don’t have to speak to no one.

There is a lot of snakes and vipers in this game.

There is a lot of guys who have sneaky and gossiping ways.

They are always trying to uncover something.

So especially them, assuming your name for clout and click baits.

Men who don’t want to do the hard work, but ride another man’s work.

Some of these females be slow, wifing these ___.

Shoddy these guys cleave to guys a little much.

So what do you expect loving and keeping a dude more interested in the coattails of other men.

God of Order

Men like Lecrae break bread with other men.

But, they map out their lives with their wives.

Their livelihood with their family.

There is a difference.

It is subtle.

Basically, Godly Men place themselves outside of pettiness.

They be like I do not need all that “he say, she say” in the middle of my family.

May the spirit of holiness and righteousness give each of us the depth of God’s love.

May God’s love be what we till into our lives and not these sour grapes and uneven grain.

A gain that enslaves us into always examining how another believer is using what God entrusted to him.

Christ is the Husband of the Church

Christ is the husband of the church.

The other man may have singing talents.

But, he is not your husband.

You are not married to him.
