Rapper PnB Rock shot and killed in robbery at LA’s Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles
LOS ANGELES (KRON) — Rapper PnB Rock was shot and killed at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles in Los Angeles Monday afternoon, authorities confirmed. The death was first reported by the L.A. Times.
Police responded to the restaurant at 106 West Manchester Avenue at 1:23 p.m. LAPD said that the victim died from his injuries at 1.59 p.m. PnB Rock was 30 years old.
LAPD confirmed that the suspect took property from the victim after shooting him.
Video that is allegedly from the scene posted to social media shows the rapper lying in a pool of his own blood. An alleged witness of the shooting posted a video saying that Rock was shot in an attempted robbery over his jewelry. TMZ first reported that the victim in the shooting was PnB Rock.
An Instagram story Rock posted Monday morning showed him wearing several necklaces. His girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang posted an Instagram story from Roscoe’s just before the shooting.
While it was initially reported that the shooting happened at the Roscoe’s located in Inglewood, LAPD said the shooting occurred at 106 West Manchester Avenue in South Los Angeles.
Rappers such as Offset, Russ and Denzel Curry have tweeted their condolences to PnB Rock.
PnB Rock, whose birth name is Rakim Hasheem Allen, originally hails from Philadelphia and signed with Atlantic Records in 2015. His song ‘Selfish’ climbed as high as No. 51 on Billboard’s Top 100 in January 2017. He has appeared in seven other songs that cracked the Top 100.
In a recent interview with DJ Akademiks, Rock talked about robbery attempts on him in Los Angeles. He and Akademiks remarked on how brazen robbery attempts have become common in the city, even happening in broad daylight.
“Where I’m from, we like sneaky criminals,” Rock said. “In LA, it’s like they bold.”
Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles
Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles is a Los Angeles staple that has been open in the city since 1975. The restaurant was mentioned in Notorious B.I.G.’s Going Back to Cali. Roscoe’s released the following statement to KRON4:
We are deeply saddened by the death of Rakim Hasheem Allen, (also known as PnB Rock), an incredible artist in Los Angeles and everywhere. His passing represents an enormous loss to each and every one of us.
Our most heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers go to the Allen family at this difficult time. The safety of our employees and guests are our utmost priority. We have and will continue to keep our place of business as safe as possible.

- Robbery? This was a straight up hit, and for the ones out there saying PnB Rock didn’t have any enemies, then y’all don’t know the music industry, there’s always an enemy, label, or family that doesn’t like you for whatever reason.
- PnB Rock should have known better to move smarter, he’s not just a regular person that’s eating food in the hood, he was a meal ticket eating food in the hood. He’s not the first and he’s definitely not the last to give up his life so easily to be taken. The objective of life is to stand in not stand out, so many want to be seen and notice, you live longer out here when you stand in.
