Bio

Born to a Scottish-born Irish father and a mother of Nigerian origin, Joyce grew up in London.

He took up boxing at the age of 22, having his interest in track and field athletics curtailed by injuries.

Joyce is on record saying ‘I don’t really like boxing, but I enjoy doing it’, highlighting the fact that he was not a big boxing fan growing up, and started upon watching some of the greats after getting into boxing properly.

Joyce obtained a BSc degree in Fine Arts at Middlesex University in 2009; he graduated with Upper Second Class Honors.

Joyce has a younger brother, Torann Joyce.

And, he is dating Nadine Davidson.

Joe Joyce is a silver medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

1. Visually Impaired
   • 1:15 – for details he he is a perfectionist and
     1:19 – whatever he does I think because he’s
     1:21 – got a visually impaired mum you can’t
     1:23 – see things as properly.  It is almost like
     1:26 – he’s doing the opposite.  He’s going to do
     1:28 – it really well and do it properly
2. Creative
   • 3:05 – you know when he would play he had a
     3:08 – great imagination he would draw a lot
     3:10 – and he always used to make
     3:15 – stuff and he had a creative upbringing
     3:19 – because I was very creative with my
     3:21 – pottery and always making stuff and his
     3:24 – dad always does his painting; so he
     3:28 – always had a great imagination
3. Inner Stillness
   • 3:31 – he didn’t really need to play with other
     3:33 – children if he didn’t want to because um
     3:36 – he was quite self efficient and I think
     3:40 – that’s it’s a great asset to have be
     3:44 – able to have that inner stillness and
     3:48 – get on with what you need to do to get on
     3:50 – without worrying about what other people
     3:52 – think you know and I used to say to him
     3:56 – don’t worry about what people would
     3:58 – think just do what you need to do and I
