Like Lionel Richie I am still stuck on Notepad++.

Still crazy after all these years.

Scenario

As I per-used Windows Explorer noticed corresponding backup files.

Remediation

Let us address.

In Notepad++

1. Access Settings \ Preferences
2. From the left panel, access the backup tab
3. The “Backup on Save” group-box, offers three options
   • None
   • Simple backup
   • Verbose backup
4. In our case, we were set for “Simple Backup“.
5. We changed to None
