Here is my take as to whether current conditions are within the context of the “Gog and Magog” war.

Scriptural Basis

There are at least two specific areas of the bible where the Gog and Magog wars are spoken of.

The two areas are:-

1. Prophet Ezekiel ( Ezekiel )
   • Ezekiel 38 – A Prophecy Against Gog ( Link )
   • Ezekiel 39 – The Slaughter of Gog’s Armies ( Link )
2. John the Revelator ( Revelation )
   • Revelation 20 ( Link )
     • Satan Bound ( Revelation 20:1-5 )
     • Satan Cast into the Lake of Fire ( Revelation 20:7-10 )
     • Judgment Before the Great White Throne ( Revelation 20:11-14 )

Analysis

In this post, we will examine whether current events are akin to what is mentioned by John, the Revelator, in Revelation 20.

Scripture

1. Revelation 20:1-5 ( Satan Bound )
   • 4 And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or hands. And they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
   • 5 The rest of the dead did not come back to life until the thousand years were complete. This is the first resurrection.
   • 6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.

Analysis

The timeline of Revelations 20:1-5  ( Satan Bound ) is clearly the Millennium reign of Christ.

1. Revelation 20:7-10 ( Satan Cast Into The Lake of Fire )

   • 7 When the thousand years are complete, Satan will be released from his prison,

   • 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to assemble them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the seashore.

   • 9 And they marched across the broad expanse of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. But fire came down from heaven and consumed them.

   • 10 And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, into which the beast and the false prophet had already been thrown. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Analysis

The timeline of Revelations 20:7-10  ( Satan Cast Into the Lake of Fire ) is clearly after the Millennium reign of Christ.

     • The number of the minion is like the sands in a seashore
     • The minions will march the broad expanse of the earth
     • The minions will surround the camp of the saints
     • And, they will also surround the beloved City
   • God
     • God will intervene
     • God will send fire from Heaven
     • God’s fire will consume the assembled army
   • Thrown into Fire and Sulfur
     • Unholy Trinity
       • Devil
       • Beast
       • False Prophet
   • What will happen to them
     • Tormented Day and Night forever and ever
