Background
I needed to see why a family member’s computer was using so much memory.
Launched Task Manager and was familiar with most of the processes.
USO Core Worker Process
The lone process I was not familiar with is “usocoreworker.exe”.

What is it?
Google on “USO Core Worker Process“.
Here is a brief outline:-
- USO stands for Update Session Orchestrator (a new tool to coordinate and manage update sessions), a new Windows Update Agent.
- The actual file names can be:-
- usocoreworker.exe
- usoclient.exe
Remediation
Stop Service
On Reddit, contributor Graciliano5678, said :-
Disable Delivery Optimisation and make sure all your updates are installed, and restart. It should go down and stay down.
Outline
- Launch MS Windows Service Applet
- Selected the “Delivery Optimization” service
- Right-click on your selection
- The dropdown menu appears, choose the Stop Option

Disable Service
I tried taking it a bit further.

Explanation
Upon trying to disable the service, received a warning.
The warning stated, “Access is denied”.
Validate
Task Manager
Returned back to Task Manager.
Thankfully, the application is no longer using as much memory.

Unfortunately, one will have to apply this remediation occasionally.
The “Delivery Optimization” service is an essential part of Microsoft Windows.
