   • Deny ( Deny it ever happen )

2. Relationship with Brad, her husband
   • Long before we said anything publicly, we imploded privately
   • Age
     • As a child, people are more understanding
     • As an adult
       • Statistically, 4 times more adults are abused than children
       • So we do have a problem
       • At around 18 years old:-
         • You start being treated as an adult
         • People say you must have consented
       • Young Adult
         • We start building a cognitive framework to understand abusive power
   • Religious Setting
     • Non Consensual because of the power dynamics
   • Husband
     • My husband assumed that I had an affair
     • Which is just wrong
     • He believed that narrative for a very long time
     • And, there is nothing that I can say
     • We had a lot of sleepless nights
   • Built Tolerance
     • It allowed me to build tolerance
     • Because the person that I love the most did not get it
     • And, so I understand others not getting it
     • But, I am very patient with the people that I love
   • Stitching Life
     • Moment by moment
     • We will get through moments together
     • And, that will draw out to full days
     • And, in some cases, days will draw out into a whole week
     • We will be able to eat, sleep, and be in the same room
     • Many times it will be one step forward and three steps back
     • It was a very painful process
     • But, eventually, we kept the ground that we gained
   • It took a year and a half
   • But, admittedly, it was a catastrophic time
3. From the wilderness to a choir
   • I had a hunch that statistically I was not going to be the one
   • I searched online, but there was no collaborative evidence
   • Upon his passing, I found that there was one other person

     • Massage Parlor Victim
     • I still have yet to speak to any of the supposed collaborators
   • Home
     • I was born into a home of a sex offender
     • Who repeatedly raped my siblings
     • He spent 9 months in prison
       • A unique group of 3% of those ever gets convicted
     • Very little justice for sex offenders
   • Justice
     • I just completed my degree
     • And, so I accepted my fate as self-justice
     • I
       • I will be just
       • I will promote peace
       • I will invite Christ as I understand him and that will have to be enough
       • Cause there will not be anything more
   • Explosion
     • When all of this exploded, I was just as astonished as everyone else
     • It has been overwhelming
     • Gratitude
       • That these other women did not have to go through what I went through
       • Others
         • Their identity is intact
         • Their family is intact
         • They can enjoy the anonymity that I can not ever have
       • As someone who is maternal and protective by nature, that means a lot to me

Especially, when we have been hurt in the house of friends, please crowd and keep us; in you alone.

 

Last Say

God, I know someone needs to hear Lori Anne’s words.

Hurt is clandestine and well masked.

Those that have been hurt are sometimes able to recognize some of the pain.

But, even then, we are not better caregivers.

As you did for Lori Anne and Brad, please allow us to keep some of the grounds that we toiled so hard to make clay out of.

Lord, please let us individually, corporately, and selflessly yield to you and you alone.
