DMX’s Ex-wife Tashera Simmons Thanks God on Her 50th Birthday — a Look into Her Life and Relationship with DMX. DMX’s ex-wife Tashera Simmons will rung in her 50th birthday on April 10. Reflecting on her life prior to the special day, she penned a heartwarming post to express her gratitude for the life she has. Simmons took to Instagram to share a jolly photo of herself clad in a floral dress. Alongside it, she expressed her gratitude for her youth, health, and protection of her children.

Simmons was born on April 10, 1971. She first met her rapper ex-husband, DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, at age 11. Both of them were raised in Yonkers, N.Y, and when she turned 18, they began dating. The couple were married in 1999 and have four children together. The couple was married for over a decade from 1998 to 2014.  They tied the knot in 1999, but the couple divorced in 2014. Simmons and DMX appeared on season one of VH1’s Couples Therapy in 2012 – the same year she filed for divorce.

In an interview with Essence in 2012, she said: “I do still feel bad about getting a divorce, even after everything X put me through because I took my vows very seriously.  And I know X is never going to love anyone the way he loves me, and I feel the same way about him.”

With much prayer, pulling. Crying and a roller coaster of emotions. I couldn’t bring myself to just celebrate and close the last 50yrs of my life without celebrating the life of one of the most important person in the world to me, my Ex-husband.

I know today is my day.

But I also understand that God is love.

So When God allowed me to open up my eyes and granted me the gift of life, I realize more than ever, that was my true gift today. Glory be to God!!

I am so grateful to God and Honored from the bottom of my heart,
For the opportunity while on this journey called life to join hands in marriage with a true disciple and Angel of God to do life with when we did. 🙏🏽

Everything we went through was necessary. It made me the woman I am today.

As I enter a new chapter in life, I don’t walk in it the same.

Life is so fragile and special at the same time!

My life lessons have raised me up to be a mighty warrior of God! Loving, resilient, and strong!

Father God, I take nothing for granted! I surrender all to you.
My only idol is you!

As I celebrate my life today, the best way I could without feeling selfish.
Looking forward to the next half of the new challenges. Life lessons. Growth. Victory. MORE of you God, and less of me.
Teach me God to do your will in life. Guid me. Speak to me. Show me your way, why?
Because it’s the only way.
In Jesus’ name! Amen.

Thank you everyone for the over-pouring of your love and concern. It’s a very tuff time right now for me and my family…
