        • 6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

      • Joseph
        • 18 And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph’s house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.
19 And they came near to the steward of Joseph’s house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,
20 And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:

    • Elisha
      • The Widow’s Oil
        • Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant, my husband, is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And now his creditor is coming to take my two children as his slaves!”“How can I help you?” asked Elisha. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” She answered, “Your servant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”…

“Go,” said Elisha, “borrow empty jars from all your neighbors. Do not gather just a few.

Then go inside, shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour oil into all these jars, setting the full ones aside.”…

        • Then Elisha said, “Call her.” So he called her, and she stood in the doorway.  “About this time next year,” Elisha said, “you will hold a son in your arms.”
“No, my lord!” she objected. “Please, man of God, don’t mislead your servant!
But the woman became pregnant, and the next year about that same time she gave birth to a son, just as Elisha had told her.
The child grew, and one day he went out to his father, who was with the reapers.
He said to his father, “My head! My head!”
His father told a servant, “Carry him to his mother.”
After the servant had lifted him up and carried him to his mother, the boy sat on her lap until noon, and then he died.
She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, then shut the door and went out.

Then take the flask of oil, pour it on his head, and declare, ‘This is what the LORD says: I anoint you king over Israel.
Then open the door and run. Do not delay!

Summary

God understands there is a relationship between you and your doors.

Do you share that understanding?

Or do you say “for the sake of me and my benefactors, this door, I will leave ajar for a little longer”.

I heard a preacher say that it wasn’t Noah who closed the door to the Ark, it was God himself.  ( Genesis 7:16 )

Of all the mysteries of life, the shamest is seeing men roped in their own lies.

One thing about truth is that it hurts to be freed.

Once the bearer chooses not to free and give it freely, the load of the lie suffocates it.

And, that is why repeated lies increasingly shrinks those who bear it.

Parting Shot

To the Church in Laodicea ( NT )

…I know your deeds; you are neither cold nor hot. How I wish you were one or the other!

So because you are lukewarm— neither hot nor cold— I am about to vomit you out of My mouth!

You say, ‘I am rich; I have grown wealthy and need nothing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.…

( Revelation 3:15-17 ) [ Link ]

Woe to the City of David ( OT )

The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.”

( Isaiah 29:13 ) [ Link ]

Tradition and Worship ( NT )

…You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you:
‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.
They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’”…
