Background

One of the many good things about Open Source is that when error comes up, one can look into it.

And, that is also the bad, the error picks at one until one finds a resolution.

This version of Visual Studio is unable to open the following projects.  The Project types may not be installed or this version of Visual Studio may not support them.

TroubleShooting

From the error message we see that project type cited is rptproj.

rptproj is Microsoft Reporting Services Project.

Remediation

Install Microsoft Visual Studio extension for managing Microsoft Reporting Services Project.

Googled for the extension and ended up at :-
