Control-M :- Client Configuration – Change Server Name

Background

Quick follow-up to our last post.

In the post, we spoke of how to identify the current configuration of our Control-M client.

In this post, we will speak of how to change the Control-M’s server name.

Outline

  1. Launched Registry Editor ( regedit )
  2. Transverse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BMC Software\Control-M/Agent\CONFIG
  3. Review configuration entries
  4. Backup Registry Folder
    • Click on menu item File\Export
    • In the “Export Registry File” Text box enter the file name to save the registry export

  1. Control-M Agent Configuration ( ctmagcfg )
    • Launched Command Shell
    • Changed folder to Control-M Agent
      • In our case the application’s name is “E:\CTMAG\Control-M Agent\Default\EXE\p_ctmag.exe”
      • What we are after is the folder name ( E:\CTMAG\Control-M Agent\Default\EXE)
    • Issue ctmagcfg
    • Note the following configurable entries
      • Agent-to-server Port Number
      • Server-to-Agent Port  Number
      • Primary Control-M/Server Host
      • Authorized Control-M/Server Hosts
    • Steps
      • Change “Primary Control-M/Server Host
      • Change “Authorized Control-M/Server Hosts

Explanation

  1. Agent to Server Port Number
    • Network Firewall Rules
      • Source Hosts :- Client
      • Destination Host :- Server
  2. Server to Agent Port Number
    • Network Firewall Rules
      • Source Hosts :- Server
      • Destination Host :- Client
  3. Primary Control-M Server Host
    • Note the Primary Control-M Host
  4. Authorized Control-M Server Host
    • Authorized Hosts are fail over server hosts

Steps – Change Primary Control-M Server Host

  1. Please click 3
  2. Enter new server name

  2. Enter new server name
