Background
I tuned in to a pastor the other day.
He tried to explain his position through scripture.
Cup of Cold Water
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
( Matthew 10:42 )
Link
Indeed, if anyone gives you even a cup of water because you bear the name of Christ, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.
( Mark 9:41 )

Kindness to the poor is a loan to the LORD, and He will repay the lender.
( Proverbs 19:17 )

Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.
( Ecclesiastes 11:1 )

For God is not unjust. He will not forget your work and the love you have shown for His name as you have ministered to the saints and continue to do so.
( Hebrews 6:10 )

It is a Shame
It is a shame that we start off with a position and look for scripture to back it up.
Thanks Goodness
Thanks goodness, Jesus never started with a position and defended it through scripture legalism.
Personal To me
May be it is just me.
But, there are some positions that are not worth looking for scripture to defend.
Many have been led astray in that endeavor.
I will leave it as that.
Gospel
It seems pleasant that the inspired word should have the last breath :-
Galatians 2:6-10
6 But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man’s person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:
7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles)
9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
10 Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.
