Db/2 – LUW – Error – “SQL Error [25000]: Operation invalid for application execution environment. “

Background

Using Dbeaver and trying to review a couple of queries and wanted a bit of help and so tried to access the explain plan.

  1. Chose to create Explain Tables
  2. Error Message received
    • Explain tables not found.  Query can’t be explained

Troubleshooting

  1. Database State
    • Is Database in Read-Only Mode
  2. Permission
    • Does user have ability to create tables

Outline

  1. Accessed Connection Node
  2. Edit Connection Node
  3. Navigated to Initialization Tab
  4. Reviewed Miscellaneous Group Box
    • Reviewed Read-Only Connection
      • Verified that Read-Only checked
      • Toggled Read-Only off

Summary

Enabling “Read-only connection” is a defensive choice that can potentially prevent unintended changes to the targeted DB Instance.

Please UN-tick the choice when you intend to utilize EXPLAIN to review the Query Plan.
