Error Messages

Error Messages includes:

  1. Microsoft Exchange is unavailable
  2. Outlook cannot log on.  Verify you are connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox name,  The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.

Remediation Steps

To fix:

  1. On 32-bit Edition of Windows, Go to Control Panel
    1. Click on the “Mail” icon
    2. Click on the “Show Profiles” button
    3. In the “Existing Profiles” listbox, remove any profiles that are no longer valid or needed
    4. If “Always use this Profile” is checked, review the Profile selected.  Determine whether it is a valid Profile or a more suitable one should be selected.
  2. On 64-bit edition of Windows, Go to Control Panel
    1. Click on “Control Panel home”
    2. Click on “Additional Options” button
    3. Click on “View 32-bit Control Panel Items” icon
    4. Click on the “Mail” icon (note that the icon may be missing if none of MS Email Applications have been installed)
    5. On the “Mail Setup – Default Outlook Profile” window,  Click on “Show Profiles” button
    6. On the “Mail” window, remove the “Default Outlook Profile” and click on the “Apply” button and then the “OK” button
  3. Exit Control panel
  4. Attempt to restart Outlook
